- Architects of Objects -
Method is a creative workshop with design in its grain.
We specialise in the development, design, project management and small-batch artisanal manufacture of very finely crafted bespoke objects.
We are also home to Scotland’s Trunk Maker: Method Trunk Works Borne of a decade creating masterpieces for the world’s most discerning luxury brands, and an obsession with re-discovering the skills of the traditional Malletier (trunk maker)
The studio delivers a wide range of end-to-end creative services, with a meticulous eye for elegant detail and a playful, theatrical style.
Our passionate team of designers and artisan craftsmen works directly with private clients, luxury brands, architects and agencies to develop, design and produce complex, evocative bespoke pieces which wordlessly communicate their sophisticated values (and often quite literally transport & showcase them) through considered design and meticulous craftsmanship.
The team also consults on multi-disciplinary craft, design and bespoke storytelling challenges.
We have been fortunate to work with: Burberry, Bentley Motors, Vacheron Constantin, Jaguar Land Rover, Estee Lauder, Aesop, LVMH, Fortnum & Mason, The Glasgow School of Art,Globe-Trotter and Hermès.
Our work has also been exhibited at the Royal Academy of the Arts in London and the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh.
Teamwork and practical collaboration is at the very heart of the what we do - with the skilled hands and experience of each of our trusted makers evident in every creation.
But the husband and wife team of the studio's co-founders; architect and designer Marisa Giannasi and second generation woodworker Callum Robinson, are the filter through which every decision is considered, refined and distilled.
Both bring very different skills, backgrounds and perspectives, but together they apply an inventive, holistic and practical approach to the entire process - which is uniquely Method
(ambitious, authentic, playful & collaborative)
'We like to think of ourselves as architects of objects. An experienced, down-to-earth, communicative team that can always be trusted to really care about the project as a whole, to go the extra mile, and to make the process personal, memorable and enjoyable...with just a hint of magic!'
Method's combined design studio and award-winning artisan workshop is located in a lovingly restored timber sawmill, nestled in the hills above the historic Royal Burgh of Linlithgow, in central Scotland.
Although easily accessed from Edinburgh city and airport (25 mins drive) the sawmill is wonderfully isolated among mature spruce and pine, making it an ideal location for atmospheric filming, photography and press-visits - whilst remaining within comfortable reach of London.
'Being surrounded by trees, water and wildlife - and so much a part of the changing seasons - has a strong influence on our work, and on the material-driven, gleefully hands-on atmosphere we weave into the fabric of each project'
